The U7 visit, which usually takes place between the 21st and 24th month of a child's life, is an important milestone in their development. At this stage, your child will have made significant progress in their physical, cognitive, and social development. This visit is an opportunity for your doctor to check for any abnormalities in your child's development and give you important information and advice to help support your child's continued growth.
During the U7 visit, your doctor will give your child a physical examination, including an eye test to detect any vision impairments. If your child is attending daycare, your doctor will ask questions about their experiences there, including any challenges they may be facing.
Oral health is also an important consideration at this age, and your doctor may discuss caries prophylaxis with fluoride and provide advice on oral hygiene for your child.
At this age, social interaction becomes increasingly important. Your child may be curious to explore their surroundings and enjoy spending time with other children. They may also be able to wait their turn in games, seek reassurance from parents, and show their anger when they don't like something. Additionally, your child may enjoy looking at the pages of books and engaging in simple storytelling activities.
The doctor will talk about language. You might have to fill out a questionnaire about your kids language. The majority of kids know at least 100 vocabularies and are able to formulate two to three words sentences, like “I want banana”. Please don't worry if your child is not there yet. Your child still has time!
Vitamin D will be recommended to prevent rickets, a bone disease
Your childs Vaccination booklet (Impfheft) will be checked
You will also receive more advice on feeding and nutrition, as well as preventing accidents.
Your doctor will inform you to go to the dentist. Toothpaste with fluoride will be recommendet.
The U7a Check-up will be around your little ones third birthday. Make an appointment in good time :)
