During Weekdays (Office Hours)
If an incident occurs at daycare/school or on the way to or from the school that requires medical attention for a child, D doctors (Durchgangsärzte) are available to assist you. These dedicated professionals operate on behalf of statutory accident insurance, specializing in treating injuries resulting from accidents connectet to daycare/school/work. Their proven qualifications extend to the specialized care of children involved in accidents, ensuring the best possible care for our little ones in unexpected situations. The best way to find them is via the TK search*. Just write D-Doctor and your place of residence, you can even search by language.
For all other cases, contact the three closest pediatrician's offices or visit during their regular office hours (Sprechstunde). Explain that you live nearby, mention the urgency of the situation, and ask about the possibility of a same-day appointment. If you’re lucky, the practice has an open spot and can take you in without any issues. If not, they may be unable to accept new patients. Unfortunately, this happens quite often. In such cases, they might refer you elsewhere, and you may need to try another practice.
However, if your child has an acute emergency, they will not turn you away. The front desk staff are well-trained and often have extensive experience in assessing the urgency of cases. If you feel unsure about leaving, don’t hesitate to ask them for reassurance and guidance on what to do next. They will inform you about home care steps or whether you should seek further assistance from a specialist or a clinic.
